Description
A double lobed hanging spice box with a large upper compartment above two overlapping drawers and each side having an applied motif of four hearts linked in a circle. The divided upper section has four small drawers with original ebonized knobs. Original surface, square nail construction, original knobs. Found in Yatton, Ontario, one of the outposts on the underground railway during the American Civil War. 1860-70. As-found condition with some edge loss to drawers.
