Description
A lot of 3 Ontario earthenware spittoons, each with distinctive splotched glaze and appealing form. 1870s-1890s.
Condition
All 3 spittoons are in very good to excellent condition. Lot 1 has a tiny potstone at the back, just below the double-incised lines. Lot 2 has a few very small in-manufacture chips along the top edge and a narrow 1" area on the top/inside edge where the glaze did not adhere. There is a 1.5" wide bump along the base edge which is an in-manufacture flaw, not a repair. Lot 3 has a tight/faint 1" in-manufacture hairline crack and a series of small thin chips along the top edge and a few thin flakes along the bottom edge.
Provenance
From the Jon Church Collection.
