Description
A stoneware jug by G.I. Lazier, Picton CW, with an excellent nesting bird decoration in cobalt blue. George Irwin Lazier was the third person to manage the Picton pottery, from 1864 to 1879, after William Hart and Samuel Skinner. During his tenure, Lazier marked all pieces "CW" (Canada West) even after Confederation in 1867. Picton, 1864-1879. Stamped, "3 / G.I. Lazier / Picton. C.W".
Condition
Very good condition. Scattered remnants of paint in and around the spout, upper shoulder and base. A few minor kiln burns. Small nick top of spout.
