Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. Mid 1970s. This appears to be an early effort by Everett Lewis (1893 - 1979) to paint a popular image used frequently by his late wife, the painter Maud Lewis. It is the image of two oxen supporting a heavy yoke from which a large chain hangs. To the left and the right are stylized trees and grass covers the foreground and background. Signed lower right, "Everett". Includes signed letter of authenticity by Alan Deacon.
