Description
Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Early 1970s. Blue Jays on a Limb clearly demonstrates Collins Eisenhauer's (1898 - 1979) talent for carving birds. The wings especially are so nicely done. His command, in wood, of the bird's anatomy is remarkable as is his touch with a paint brush. One can still tell, at a glance that this is the work of gifted folk artist working in wood. Tagged by artist underneath.
Condition
Very good condition. Good paint with some flaking and wear to wings. The bluejay facing opposite has an applied plaster beak with crack. Another blue jay has minor loss to the tip of beak with natural pressure splits through the head. Legs have been stabilized with glue.
Medium
Carved wood and paint.
