Canadian. Prince Edward Island. 1970s. Oil on masonite. A naive painting depicting the schooner "Lydia" in choppy waters by Prince Edward Island folk artist Axel Johnson (1896 - 1981). Johnson was a noted P.E.I. wood turner and painter. The schooner in this example of his work bears the name, "Lydia". Signed lower right, "Axel". Titled lower left, "EVNINGTIDE" (sic).
