Canadian. Prince Edward Island. 1970s. Oil on masonite. A naive painting depicting the schooner "Jaen" in choppy waters by Prince Edward Island folk artist Axel Johnson (1896 - 1981). Johnson was a noted P.E.I. wood turner and painter. This example of his work includes an article featuring Johnson from a February 1982 issue of the Atlantic Advocate. The schooner bears the name, "Jaen". Signed lower right, "Axel".
