Canadian. Tillsonburg, Ontario. 1886. Salt-Glazed Stoneware. Rare. The partnership of Gray & Glass was formed in March of 1886 and was dissolved in early August of the same year after a fire completely demolished their plant. Examples of their stoneware are seldom seen. Stamped, "GRAY & GLASS / TILSONBURG / 2". Note the misspelling of the word "Tillsonburg".
Condition
Restoration to the lower right of the floral decoration masks a diagonal hairline that begins halfway up the crock and extends halfway across the base (visible from within). One tight hairline extends in four directions near the base of the back.
