Description
Canadian. 1940s. Single-sided lithographed paper. Black Cat was one of those companies that excelled at advertising. How could they not, having one of the most attractive logos and recognizable brands in the history of advertising. This advertising sign shows a beautiful woman in a fur cuffed overcoat, with matching gloves and beret - a look typical of a 1940s fashion style with hints of military, that was popular both during and post-war. The Black Cat brand itself was first introduced in the United Kingdom by Carreras Ltd. in 1904. The brand was named for a black cat that used to sleep in the window of the Carreras' street shop. Since the name "Carreras" seemed too difficult to pronounce, everyone referred to the store as the "black cat shop". All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions. All purchases are eligible for delivery to the Spring Dixie Gas & Oil Show on April 10-12 2025.
