Description
Canadian. 1950s. Diecast. The Londontoy (yes it's one word) company, as the name clearly suggests, made toys at their factory located in London, Ontario. The company originally made air compressors and air pumps for jeeps during WWII. It is not known exactly when they began toy production, but it is thought to have occurred as a means of using the waste and rejected metal from their war efforts. The factory closed in 1950, and in 1951 one of their salesmen, Archie Palmer, purchased the Londontoy name, their moulds and everything related to the manufacture of toys. While the company eventually closed (date is unknown) and their equipment was sold to a U.S. manufacturer, it is known that they remained in the toy business for only a few years (specific dates unknown). A great Canadian collectible. Marked "Londontoy Beverage Truck Made in Canada" on underside. Marked "Londontoy" on box. All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions. All purchases are eligible for delivery to the Spring Dixie Gas & Oil Show on April 10-12 2025.
