Description
A stoneware bird crock by Flack and Van Arsdale, Cornwall. David Flack and Isaac Van Arsdale owned and operated the Cornwall Pottery beginning in 1869 until its closure in 1907. This diminutive crock is an excellent example from their business with a beautifully rendered cobalt bird that fills the entire front. Ontario, 1880s-1890s. Stamped, "Flack & Van Arsdale / 2". The "L" and "E" are very faint.
Condition
Excellent condition, with just a small patch of light staining at the back, two small (1/4") potstones (at the back and top edge of rim, left side) and some very minor in-manufacture roughness to a portion of the outer edge of the right lug handle.
