Description
Hirtle's Beach, Nova Scotia. C. 1995. Like many folk artists Cyril Hirtle (1918 - 2003) painted vibrant scenes of fishing and farming in Nova Scotia. His works are rare. This example depicts two deer crossing the laneways of two colourful houses in the background. The artist is quite exact in his depiction of the twin laneways, the houses and the deer. Like his underlined signature, everything has a specific place in this attractive folk art painting. Signed, lower right, "Cyril Hirtle".
