Description
American. 1890s. Rustic figure eight style wood and paper mache case has an unusually long throat with relief lettering around the door and lower door which reads "Tower Tea, A Daily Treat - The Great Tower St. Tea Company, Limited, London, The Registered Trademark of Tower Tea"; also has an original paper advertisement label applied to the throat which reads "None Genuine Without This Signature, Tower Tea, & Registered Trademark On The Packet". Baird manufactured wooden cases in Montreal that housed clock movements bought from Seth Thomas. Marked, "Baird Clock Co., Plattsburg, NY", on the dial. Marked, Maker's label "Baird Clock Co., Plattsburg, NY., USA", on inside case. All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions. Condition
Scarce. Case retains original paper labels, with lacquer applied to areas of loss. Tested, working. Retains original key and pendulum. Retains original dial, with some minor staining. Some paint restoration to clock's upper bezel and glass has been replaced.
