Japanese. 1950s. This toy was really just a robot, but over time acquired the name "porthole spaceman" because of its obvious spaceman appearance and the porthole in his helmet. Linemar is the trade name Marx used for its toys that were manufactured in Japan (to keep costs down) and then sold in the U.S. and other countries. Marked, "Line Mar Toys Japan", on lower right leg.
Condition
Good condition. Touch-ups to hip areas on both sides affect the bottom of the suit. Remote control cable has been cut. Some pinpoint nicks. Untested.

Lithographed tin.

From the Phil Barnett Collection.
