Description
British. 1930s. The Hornby Speedboat No. 2 was one of the most popular of the Hornby speedboat models (there were 5 speedboat models in total - this one is the "Swift"). The toy was advertised as travelling over 300 feet on one winding. There were 3 different colour combinations (red/white; blue/white and yellow/white). Marked, "Manufactured in England by Meccano Limited, Liverpool", on box. Marked, "Hornby Speedboat Manufactured by Meccano Ltd Liverpool", on top rear of boat.
Condition
Boat is in excellent original condition. Clockwork motor tested and working. Colour is vibrant and glossy. Original "SWIFT" gold stencilling on bows. Retains key and original windscreen. Box is in poor condition with fraying to the label and heavy edgewear.
