Description
British. 1930s. The Hornby Speed Boat No. 2 was one of the most popular of the Hornby speed boat models (there were 5 speed boat models in total- this one is the "Swift"). The toy was advertised as travelling over 300 feet on one winding. There were three different colour combinations (red/white; blue/white and yellow/white). Marked, "Manufactured in England by Meccano Limited, Liverpool", on box, underside, and original leaflet. Marked, "Hornby Speed Boat No. 2 "Swift", on side of box. Marked, "Manufactured by in England Hornby Meccano Ltd. Liverpool", on decal on top rear of boat. Marked, "SWIFT", in gold stencil (correct on starboard bow only).
Condition
Good condition. Exhibits minor scratches, paint loss, and oxidation. Hornby Meccano key included. Retains original windscreen. Original instructions included. Box is in fair condition, complete with taped edges.
