Description
Japanese. 1950s. This toy was styled after the Ford Fairlane, by Yonezawa (also known as "Yone" or "Y"), Japan's largest post-war toy manufacturer. The company's logo is a Y within a 5 petal cherry blossom motif. The cherry blossom was used as it symbolized both life and death, the sense of vitality and the reminder that life is fleeting - all very predominant in Japanese culture. Marked, "Made in Japan", with the Yonezawa trademark logo on rear license plate.
Condition
Very good condition. Friction motor tested and working. Original antenna. Paint loss and chipping in various spots and particularly on the roof. Holes in front windshield.

From the Phil Barnett Collection.
