Description
Japanese. 1950s. Yonezawa (also known as "Yone" or "Y") was Japan's largest post-war toy manufacturer. The company's logo is a Y within a 5 petal cherry blossom motif. The cherry blossom was used as it symbolized both life and death, the sense of vitality and the reminder that life is fleeting - all very predominant in Japanese culture. Marked, "Made in Japan", with Yonezawa trademark on box and left side of boat.
