Description
This vehicle is subject a reduced buyers premium of 12%. American. 1948. In the few years following WWII automakers struggle to bring new designs and platforms to the market. Time, money, and resources left most companies rebadging and rebirthing the same old tired pre-war designs. Chrysler leapt ahead with its 'woodies' introducing high quality and stylish wood panelling as bodywork to its existing platforms. Their combination of using the supreme luxury and options of the Town and Country packaging with high quality wood design made this car and Chrysler the peak symbol of American luxury of 1948. Only 8,365 New Yorker Series convertibles were produced. This rare model C-39 1948 Chrysler Town & Country Convertible is featured in Yellow Lustre complimented by white ash inserts with mahogany veneer panels. The catalin steering wheel with complementary catalin dash and door trim is dazzling. This car is rarely seen in Canada, let alone discovered. To find an example with a quality restoration is a true delight. It is powered by a straight eight 135 horsepower engine and uses a semi-automatic 5 speed transmission. Its breakthrough 'fluid drive' allows the user to put the car in gear and drive all day without touching the clutch. It also features a unique-for-the-time electric-powered roof.
