Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. 1967. This painting is a serial image that was found only in the 1960s. The work features the adorable hind sides of a buck and doe stopped in their tracks, gazing at the distant houses and church. The work is on 12" X 14" Masonite and was likely a work sold through John Kinnear, a London, Ontario artist and friend who worked as an agent for Maud Lewis in the second half of the 1960s. Signed, "Maud Lewis", recto, lower right.
Condition
Very good condition. One pinpoint stain to the lower left of "M" in the "Maud Lewis" signature. The corners of the masonite are slightly softened, from impact. Superb and vibrant colour.
