Description
Nova Scotia. Early 1990s. Alan Emery was born in Parry Sound, Ontario. He was a well known carver in the Georgian Bay and would make carvings for travellers in the Muskoka area. Legend has it that Emery moved to Nova Scotia after a house fire, purportedly started by his father. Originally commissioned by Reg Havil. His talent is distinct, with accurate proportions and careful attention to detail. You can really feel the weight of the animal. Carved "A. Emery N.S. Canada" on underside of base.
