Description
A masterful Nova Scotia foot stool in the Lunenburg Germanic tradition with original red/green paint and exuberant geometric carving. The skirt is deeply shaped with a carved star flanked by two wings while the top has notched corners and a large carved diamond with a rosette at the centre. The splayed plank sides are equally carved including a scroll carved foot and chamfered edges. Very good condition with an old repair to a crack on one foot. Ex collection Alan Clairman. Nova Scotia, 19th century.
