Description
Holstein, Grey County, Ontario. C. 1980. Here are two well-carved plaques by A. R. Hershey. The back of each one with acanthus leaves carved at the top and the bottom. One shows a carved face, possibly a monkey; the other one is carved with a projecting shell. Stamped, "A.R. Hershey, Holstein, Ont", on reverse of both.
Condition
Good condition. One with stain varnish, the other without finish.
Medium
Softwood, possibly Butternut. Applied carved face is pine.
Provenance
Purchased directly from the artist, by descent to current owner.
