Description
Alma, Prince Edward Island. C. 2000. Kerras Jeffery demonstrates his continual creativity with the use of an old coffee pot in forming this zany monkey. Both the old coffee server and the carved head are painted coffee-brown with black highlights. The lemur sports red and white staring eyes. It's outstretched arms are made of painted forks and he holds a banana in yellow found material. The noted, Alma P.E.I. folk artist produced many whacky, fun, iconoclastic works, and was known for his creative, playful spirit. He made the Guinness Book of World Records for building the world's largest egg beater in 2005. With an exhibition in Calgary and a website, Jeffery's sculptures have been sold across Canada and beyond. His commissioned work includes pieces created for Kingsbridge Garden, St. Andrews, New Brunswick. Signed, "Kerras Jeffery", in paint underneath.
