Description
Lower Prospect, Halifax County, Nova Scotia. C. 1990. Joe Norris painted this autumn scene with a man dressed ironically in black and blue running away from a black bear on its hind legs. He races towards a passing pickup truck painted bright red. As in all of Norris's paintings vibrant enamel colours bring the scene to life. Joe's theory on using fall colours gives energy to this work. In the background are lime-green fields and horses grazing against an orange forest on a blue horizon. The piece retains its original white-painted frame with maple trees on the border. Signed, "Joe. Norris", bottom right. Frame marked, "from Charles Norris", on back.
