American. 1875-1925. Iron, wood. Container 1: "The Impervious Can." Iron bound wooden kerosene container, fitted with a spigot at the bottom and a bale handle. Container 2: Iron bound wooden kerosene container, fitted with a spigot at the bottom and a bale handle. Container 3: Iron bound wooden kerosene container with a bale handle. Container 1: Marked on the side within a line border, special instructions, and a 60 day warranty. On the outer band of the circle are the words, “The Impervious Can for Kerosene or Coal Oil/5 gallons” and within the circle it reads, “The best and the cheapest and most dependable oil package in the world for family use” and, “Never put water". Container 2: “Kerosene Oil” stencilled on the front, “NEW ERA OIL CAN FOR FAMILY USE, 3 GALLONS” stencilled on the top. Container 3: “Kerosene Oil” stencilled on the front. "1 gallon" stencilled on the top.
Condition
Container 1 & 2: retain original red paint. Container 3: retains original green paint.
