Albert Bridge, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. 1982. Softwood, brass, plastic. This formidable life-sized carving of a sheriff by Nova Scotia master Sidney Howard is in line with his carvings of life-sized carvings of politicians and R.C.M.P officers that made him famous. This uniformed Sheriff with side arm sports a brass belt buckle. He is made official with the plastic star on his shirt. Marked, "1982" and "Sidney Howard" on the back.
Condition
Vertical shrinkage cracks can be seen in the face, body and arms.

From the Linda & Lawrence Laing Collection. Purchased at the Sutherland/Amit Auction in 1994.
