From the Marty Osler Collection. $2500/3000. Anne Meredith Barry (1932-2003) was a Canadian visual artist known for her landscapes of Newfoundland and Labrador. Barry was born in Toronto and attended the Ontario College of Art in 1954 before beginning her career as a full-time painter. She first travelled to Newfoundland in 1971 for a summer teaching gig, and ended up moving permanently with her husband in 1986. She was inspired by the rugged, naturalistic landscape of the province and captured its essence beautifully through her work. Barry's work can be found in private and public collections, including The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery's Permanent Collection, the Canada Council Art Bank, the Emily Carr College of Art and Design and the Governor General of Canada's Collection.
