Fine quality tiger maple sewing box from Nova Scotia. The lid with a double hipped roof profile is carved from a solid piece of wood. The interior features a removable dovetailed tiger maple tray, with partitions, in the base and a removable panel to the interior of the lid. In original varnish surface and retains the original brass hinges, lock and key. From the Alan Emerson Collection. Exhibits cracks and material losses along the front and right side of the lid. A few minor age cracks and surface scratches along with patches of surface loss are evident in areas. Three partitions are missing from the tray. Maple.
