A very early carved canoe cup decorated with a mermaid and a fish in addition to a sawtooth border on the top edge and around the rimmed base. A remnant of the original leather carrying strap is barely visible at one end. Great dark patina. A simple yet very fine example likely made for personal use. Early 19th century.
