A Windsor sackback chair with an exaggerated splay to the undercarriage and a solid birch seat, legs mortised through the seat and shaped hand grips. This chair is in very good condition with a dished seat, good wear, baluster turning in the centre stretcher and side stretchers with a block swell, all in early black paint . Small chip on the seat at the left post and a slight seat crack, normal height loss due to wear. The vernacular form and the birch seat suggest an Eastern Canadian origin. 1790-1820.
