Description
A vibrant grain painted pine Ontario two-drawer blanket chest with the lower section retaining two dovetailed drawers accented by a quadruple bead molding above and below. The interior has a till with two dovetailed small drawers. Nice untouched crotch grain paint on the front and top with black ring-turned "turnip" feet that extend into the drawer section. The top has molded edge breadboard ends while the overlapping molded edge drawers retain the original brass knobs. Cast butt hinges have been moved/changed at one time. In as-found condition, there is a slight warp to the top that could be rectified with the loose breadboard ends being reattached. Some illegible script on the underside of the lid. Possibly Waterloo County, found further north near Mildmay, a community of primarily English and German descent. Ontario, mid 19th century. H: 30", L: 47", W: 21.5". CODE:FUR
