It is said that John Kenyon followed the "Grand Circuit" races painting the portraits of the winning horses and then selling them to the owners of the horses. Like many artists of his day, Kenyon was keenly interested in photography and used that medium to assist in his paintings. He would travel to fairs and horse shows where he would photograph animals that he would later paint. This work features the race horse "The Eel" and his jockey. The Eel was inducted into the Canadian Racehorse Hall of Fame in 2011. He was owned by Frank W. Entriken of Tavistock, ON and Dan McEwen of London, ON. According to Legendary writer John Hervey, "(The Eel) was far and away the most popular pacer of his time with race-goers". Sight 14" x 10" x 1.25". Est. $800-1200. CODE-PFA
