Description
Signed and dated , "J. J. Kenyon 1912" lower left edge. Titled, "Bobbie Burns, Morris & Co Chicago, Ill." lower center edge. John Kenyon followed the "Grand Circuit" races painting the portraits of the winning horses and then selling them to the owners of the horses. Like many artists of his day, Kenyon was keenly interested in photography and used that medium to assist in his paintings. He would travel to fairs and horse shows where he would photograph animals that he would later paint. This work features a clydesdale named "Bobbie Burns". Commissioned by owner Morris & Co., a Chicago, Illinois meat packing giant. This photograph has been thoroughly colour-enhanced with pastels including gold details accentuating the horses tack. Sight 20" x 16" x 1". Walnut veneer frame exhibits a few chips along the left edge. Free of soiling, discolouration and restoration. Est. $800-1200. CODE-PFA
