American. 1870. 31� x 18� x 31�H This lockstitch sewing machine was manufactured by Grover, Baker & Co. of Boston, Mass., USA. They were in operation from the 1850�s to 1875. The serial number of this machine, 279435, dates it to 1870. The black walnut table has a folding cover that serves as a sewing surface when the machine is in use.
