John Geddie Senior (1778-1843) was born in Banff, Scotland, where he was a successful clock and watchmaker until the end of the Napoleonic Wars. He and his family emigrated to Pictou, Nova Scotia in 1816 where he reestablished his clock making business, continuing until his death.
