Canadian. 1930s. Gilt wood frame. Watson was very much in touch with the outdoor elements and incorporated them in his paintings. Winter was no exception and this scene was a favourite of his giving the viewer a valley vista through an opening in the trees - much like his famous 1922 work 'The Valley of the Ridge.'
