Canadian. Circa 1890. A rare, surviving example of a high wheel bicycle produced by Goold Bicycle Company, Brantford. In 1888 Edward Goold and William Knowles launched the Canadian bicycle venture. The Brantford Expositor on January 2, 1891 reported that, "the firm, aside from making the ordinary Brantford and Brantford No. 1 high-wheeled bicycle, are also turning out in large numbers the Diamond and Brantford No 1 safety bicycle". Marked, "The Goold Bicycle Limited - WARWICK - Brantford Ont" brass tag on upper frame. Front wheel diameter is 54"; 5' (h) to handlebars. CODE-BIKE CODE-CAN
