Description
American. C. 1891. Serial 27856 in 44 S&W Russian calibre with 6 & ½ in barrel and top rib address. Pinned IRA Paine designed blade front sight and S&W elevation adjustable blade, barrel latch mounted rear sight. Nickel plated with S&W style 3 factory scroll, punch dot and border engraved frame, cylinder, rear barrel housing, rear rib extension, back grip strap and bottom of butt around serial number. Matching serial numbers on butt, cylinder, barrel rib extension and barrel latch. Case colored hammer, checkered trigger, trigger guard and barrel latch. Gold monogrammed S&W logo. Smooth pearl grips. Accompanying factory letter confirms factory shipment December 8, 1891 with 4 others of identical configuration except one that was S&W style 3 engraved (this gun) which also left the factory with checkered black hard rubber grips that were changed to the existing factory pearl grips after 1898 when they became available. Legal Status: Antique.
Condition
Factory metal finish very good although somewhat dulled. Case colours bright with trigger guard grayed on the bottom and front from wear. Grips near perfect. Barrel and cylinder bores good with some frosting. Mechanically sound.
