Description
A large bold hooked rug honouring the Orange Lodge in Truro, Nova Scotia with multiple freemasonry symbols on a purple rectangle including the all-seeing eye, pentagram, skull and crossbones, all on a red ground with black border. Initials RBP at the top and 737 in bold numbers at the bottom. The Orange Lodge was brought to Nova Scotia by British soldiers; by 1850 there were eight lodges in the province. Strong colours, very good condition with minor pulls, and some minor loss to the internal border along the top left. Mounted for hanging. Early 20th century. Unmarked.
