Description
A pine linen press found in Jordan Station, Niagara Peninsula in 1976 with two panelled doors, two overlapping drawers and sitting on a simple bracket base. The drawers are dovetailed, the original shelves have a beaded front edge, and the cupboard is assembled with rosehead nails. Very good overall condition with the two side cornice moldings replaced, partial trim restoration at the waist molding, restored top edge on the two drawers, hardware replaced, and the paint is restored. Ontario, early 19th century.
Condition
Good condition, evidence of some paint restoration. Minor repair to cornice. Evidence of old pencil writing on both the inside and outside of the doors likely done by original owners. One drawer pull is broken.
Provenance
From the Tom & Cliff Stanton Collections.
