Description
A chip carved and fretwork open box likely used to hold paper napkins. Signed inside with calligraphic script "Fred G. Hoffman, Feb. 12, 1923" and underneath "Adelina Schumm, Baden Ont.". The base is scalloped all around with protruding penny feet at the corners, the sides are decorated with stars and pinwheels, and the upper border is comprised of linked horseshoes. In original polychrome paint. Marked in pencil inside bottom, and also on reverse.
