Description
Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. 1964-1965. This is an uncommon serial image by Maud Lewis similar to "Portrait of Eddie Barnes and Ed Murphy, lobster fisherman, Bay View, N.S." on page X of the introduction to "The Illuminated Life of Maud Lewis", by Lance Woolaver. It is rare to find figures of any kind in works by Lewis, let alone identified figures. This is an exceptional example of this image. Signed, lower right, "Lewis". Includes signed letter of authenticity by Alan Deacon.

Excellent condition. Faint foxing to reverse side of beaver board. Bold colour.

Oil on beaverboard.

Purchased directly from the artist. Retained by the same family since purchased. See the Miller Times article, "Maud Lewis painting evades Goodwill".
