German. 1910s. Despite the French name, Georges Carette was a German company that produced a large line of superb toys. This Carette open touring car was made during a period when cars were only for the very rich and the toys based on them were also only for the very rich. It is listed on page 211 of the 1911 Carette catalogue as product number 3358/43 and is referred to as a "high-class motor car". A hard-to-find toy in any condition. Unmarked.
Condition
In overall fair condition. Complete. Driver side headlamp is a replacement. Shows playwear to most areas. There is paint loss to the side panels near door hardware and to the driver's seat. Some general oxidation and wear to entire car. Spring requires service. There is a solder repair to the passenger side rear wheel with heat-related paint crazing.
