Description
Digby, Nova Scotia. Last quarter 20th century. Fred Trask is well known for his paintings, which often tell a story, and is perhaps best known for his paintings of Maud and Everett Lewis' house, who lived nearby. This is a particularly impressive scene of the house at sunrise, with clothes on the line and Maud arriving with her suitcase, while Everett waves from the window. It is signed "Fred Trask" on the front, bottom left, and with the date 1937 on the bottom right. This refers not to the date when the painting was created, but to the date when the scene took place—the day Maud arrived to start her life with Everett. There is a "history of this scene" written on the back. Signed, "Fred Trask" lower left. Historical notes, on reverse.
