ARTIST
Thomas Rector (1908-2002) was a sculptor and woodcarver from Halfway River, Nova Scotia. He carved a unique niche in the world of folk art during the 1980s and beyond. Using 'as found' forked tree branches and a palette of vibrant colours, Rector fashioned sculptures of people in varying sizes. His artistic repertoire also included occasional carvings of animals. Rector embarked on his carving journey late in life at the age of 82, yet his talent quickly captured attention of folk art enthusiasts across North America and Europe.

Halfway River, Nova Scotia. Last quarter 20th century. A classic "stick man" with a blue shirt and black pants by Thomas Rector. Signed, "Thomas Rector, Halfway River, Nova Scotia.", on the bottom.
Condition
Very good original condition. Paint is stable. One arm has been reattached with newer screw.
