Leo Naugler (born 1956) is a renowned folk artist hailing from Camperdown, Nova Scotia. His journey into folk art began in the late 1980s, inspired by his neighbor Eddie Mandaggio. Prior to his artistic pursuits, Naugler worked as a highway laborer, owned a small automobile body shop, and displayed impressive welding skills, which he later incorporated into his sculptures. His artistic prowess extends beyond carving, as he is also a talented painter. His vibrant and quirky creations capture the essence of Maritime life, reflecting his zest for life and sense of humor. Camperdown, Nova Scotia. Last quarter 20th century. This dramatic black Pegasus was created by widely collected and documented Nova Scotia folk artist, Leo Naugler. It is a fine example of the creativity and imagination which makes Naugler one of Nova Scotia's best-known folk artists. Signed, boldly in yellow paint on the chest.

In good condition with evidence of minor paint loss at the joints.
