Nitinat Lake, British Columbia. Mid 20th century. A highly detailed and finely carved and painted totem pole by Raymond Williams. Raymond Williams was the son of Sam Williams, a Ditidaht carver from Nitinat Lake, BC, who was the originator of the distinctive Williams family carving style. Raymond, also Ditidaht and Nuu-chah-nulth, typically characterized his work with many small cuts, sometimes cutting through the surface to the back. Carved, "Ray Williams", on back.
Condition
Very nice condition. No breaks. Minor paint wear along some areas of front.
