Description
Saint John, New Brunswick. C. 1830. A finely made, high-quality sideboard possibly from the workshop of Thomas Nisbet, Saint John. With six drawers, two cupboard compartments and two sliding doors in the upper section the piece retains a rich old surface and colour. Displaying a range of carved details including acanthus brackets, applied beading, spiral and acanthus carved legs, and quarter fans. Circa 1830.
Condition
Minor abrasions. Small areas of veneer missing in several places on front, some of which is retained. Brass pulls restored. Age crack (tight) in left front door.
