Description
Weber, Anna (1814 - 1888). Drawn by Anna Weber just months before her death, this fraktur shows two birds facing each other perched on the branches of a stylized floral "tree". Strong colours with the unusual inclusion of a pink tone not commonly found in her works, all within a multi-coloured perimeter diamond border. Signed and dated in Anna Weber's typical two-line manner across the bottom, "Anna Weber, May 28, 1888". Illustrated in "Ontario Fraktur" by Michael Bird, page 129 and in "Anna's Art" by E. Reginald Good, page 46. Watercolour on paper, very good condition with two small tears: a 1" tear at mid-point on the right side and a half-inch tear lower left.
Provenance
From the Rutter Family Collection.
